Spring Pests: Who Are They? Pt 2: Wood Peckers, Spiders and Cluster Flies

The arrival of spring means warmer weather, budding trees, flowers, and, unfortunately, an increase in pests. These pests can cause a lot of damage to your property and can be challenging to get rid of. This blog post will discuss three common spring pests: woodpeckers, spiders, and cluster flies. We will give you some tips on identifying these pests and what damage they can cause.

Spring Pests #4: Woodpeckers

The first pest we will discuss is the woodpecker. Woodpeckers are a common sight in many parts of the country, and they can cause a lot of damage to your property. Woodpeckers peck holes in trees to find food or to make a nest. They can also damage homes and other buildings by pecking at the wood siding or trim. Woodpecker damage can be very costly to repair, and it is essential to take steps to prevent it from happening.

Spring Pests #5: Spiders

The following pest on our list is the spider. Spiders are more common in the spring and summer months, as they prefer warm weather. Spiders can be found in various places, including gardens, trees, and even inside homes. Spiders generally pose no threat to humans or animals, but some species can bite if they feel threatened. Spider bites usually cause redness, swelling, and pain at the site of the bite. In rare cases, spider bites can be venomous and require medical attention.

Spring Pests #6: Cluster Flies

The last pest we will discuss is the cluster fly. Cluster flies are a type of fly that often invades homes in the fall and winter months. They usually enter through cracks and crevices in the windows or walls.

Cluster flies do not bite or sting, but they can be a nuisance because they tend to congregate in large numbers. They can also contaminate food and surfaces with their droppings. Therefore, if you have a cluster fly problem, it is essential to get rid of them.

Woodpeckers, spiders, and cluster flies can all cause damage to your property and can be a nuisance. If you suspect you have a problem with any of these pests, feel free to get in touch with Pest Detective, and we’ll help you get rid of them for good!
