There are few things more enjoyable in summer than being able to host a BBQ. Whether you’re at Cultus Lake in Chilliwack or Burnaby Lake Park or even in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, or in your own backyard one of the most common issues that can get in the way of you having a great BBQ is when you have pests in the home or in the garden. In this post, we’ll take you through some ideas on how to stop pests from ruining your BBQ this year.
Pests #1: Ants
One of the biggest nuisances at any summer gathering that involves food is ants. These can be hard to see at first, but then the moment you put your quiche down, you suddenly notice them everywhere. Ants are experts at grabbing food from right under your nose, but when you do notice them all you need to do is follow the line of them to see where they are coming from. Then you can see just what the scale of your problem is, and whether you might need some professional help from a Vancouver pest control team. There are also many products that can be used if your problem is small and contained, but use care as they are NOT pet friendly!
Pests #2: Wasps & Bees
There are few things more annoying than having a load of bees or wasps in your garden while you are trying to host a BBQ. If you are concerned about this happening during your BBQ, it is best to be preventative about it. In other words, take a moment to check your garden early on, maybe a few weekends before the planned event, and see if you have any wasps or bees around. If you do, contacting the professionals to safely remove them – and their nests – is your best chance of BBQ success.
Pests #3: Rodents
Most of your BBQ guests are going to be very put off their food if they happen to see any rodents running around the home or in the garden. Of course, you won’t always be aware that you have a rodent problem until it is too late, which is again why it’s such a good idea to call a team in to have a look early on. With their help, you will be able to keep the place mice and rat-free for the whole summer, and maybe even all year round.
Squirrels & Other Animals
In truth, there is no limit to the number of animals who might end up disrupting your BBQ. You may be somewhere where squirrels are a particular nuisance, or you might have other animals to worry about too. In any case, it’s important that you are going to deal with them as soon as you can, to help ensure that your event goes to plan as successful as possible.
